WPATH Files (2024)
Author: Mia Hughes (Environmental Progress). Position in chronology: timeline 2024-03.
Summary
In March 2024 Environmental Progress (lead author Mia Hughes) published a report based on leaked internal WPATH communications, including chat logs, internal lectures and committee deliberations. The report documents cases in which WPATH members voiced concerns about competence for informed consent, comorbid conditions and the empirical basis of the SOC-8 age recommendations. The authenticity of the documents has not been contested by WPATH.

2. Substantive points
- Discussions among members about minors' understanding of loss of fertility and sexual function.
- Internal acknowledgement that psychiatric comorbidity and autism are common among referred youth.
- Debate about the scientific basis of the age thresholds in draft SOC-8.
3. Status as a source
